SCSI Nexus and Google user data
SCSI Nexus is an internal application used only by SCSI’s own staff for their own work. It is not offered to the public. With the account owner’s explicit permission through Google sign-in, it uses these Google permissions for that person’s own account:
- Read Gmail messages (gmail.readonly), to find and summarize the owner’s work email and to confirm that messages the owner approved were sent.
- Create and send drafts (gmail.compose), to prepare email drafts for the owner, which are sent only after the owner approves them.
- Read the calendar (calendar.readonly), to include meetings in the owner’s daily work briefings. Nexus does not change the calendar.
How this data is handled:
- It is used only to provide these features to the account owner, at the owner’s request.
- Message and calendar content may be processed by AI model providers that Nexus uses, solely to carry out the task the owner asked for. It is not used to train AI models, for advertising, or for any other purpose.
- It is never sold, and it is not shared with anyone else except as required by law.
- The Google sign-in is stored encrypted and is used only by Nexus’s own servers. Working records Nexus creates for the owner (for example drafts and summaries) are kept in SCSI’s private systems and deleted when no longer needed.
- The owner can remove Nexus’s access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
SCSI Nexus’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Security
We protect information with access controls, encrypted storage for credentials and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit access to the people and services that need it.
